I couldn’t help pre-emptively ragging especially when I saw the “calm down, so what if Blaine’s white, Darren doesn’t look Asian” comments. I agree with you when I’m being zen and shit.

Yeah, luckily I wasn’t online when the news broke, so I missed all the wank and it’s taken me till now to realize. And yeah, it’s always offensive to me when people say “Oh well the person can pass as white so why bother casting non-white people as their family?” when it’s not like OMG it’s so hard casting people who aren’t white! Cause that’s bull. 

Mostly I just saw this as sort of celebrity/stunt casting with someone who does actually look the part. Also I saw the news all together with Lea Salonga’s happy tweet about it so in my mind she was like “OMG my children are so pretty, yay!” Which may or may not be the case. Either way I hope they either never directly address it or just cast her as Blaine’s mother, because I really won’t accept anyone else. And why would they cast anyone else when they have a Broadway legend totally on board?

Oh I see there’s been some wank over casting Matt Bomer as Blaine’s brother because it implies white washing Blaine. Is it weird that it never occurred to me that this would somehow preclude Blaine being mixed race? I mean I still think Lea Salonga should be his mother (and I will rage if they cast anyone else). I mean I guess Matt Bomer could be a very white-passing half-Asian. If you squint. Or on the more thinky side Matt Bomer is in his 30s so they could easily say he and Blaine are half-brothers from his father’s first marriage or something.

All of which is to say I am excited by the casting of Matt Bomer, but yes it would definitely bother me if they used it as a reason to white wash Blaine’s entire family. Not the least of which because Lea Motherfucking Salonga is chomping at the bit to play Blaine’s mom. However until they actually cast Blaine’s parents or make it clear they’re white I will hold out hope that this won’t happen. If it does, then I will definitely get my rage on.

Oh hai, tumblr. I’ve kind of been giving myself a break from the internet the past… 36 hours or so. Overall I think it’s been a good plan.

Of course I come back to “Matt Bomer to play Blaine’s older brother” and Lea Salonga basically being all “Yay! Both my son’s are hot and talented! What I’m totally Blaine’s mother. You will pry that role from my cold dead hands!” Am I wrong? 

Sheesh, Glee, just as I’m starting to pull away you know how to lure me back in. :P
